10 Steps, 5 Minutes and Anyone Can Meditate

Think you don't have the time or the patience to learn to meditate? You've heard that meditation is proven to help you relieve stress and be calm, but then you get busy and feel it will take too long or be too complicated. It doesn't have to be that way. Just starting gets you halfway there. While there are many forms of meditation and techniques that do take longer or are more advanced, you can start simple.

Stacie Dooreck from the Elephant Journal has put together a very simple “starters” routine to get you kicked off. As she says in the article,

Start with one minute a day and increase as time goes on. Practice, practice, practice…I find that keeping a consistent practice, even if you meditate for only five minutes, will keep the momentum going. Try not to miss more than one day a week. Be patient with yourself—the practice takes time to develop.
