Five Skincare Must-Do's
No matter your age, or what your skincare routine has been in the past, there are five simple must do's anyone can add to their skincare routine. Be the best version of you - make these changes today!
The greatest single factor in skin aging is that bright yellow star at the heart of our solar system, the sun. Stafford Broumand, MD. a prominent plastic surgeon in New York City, stresses that “sunblock should be your first, second and third line of defense against aging.”
2. Healthy Diet
Fill your diet with healthy foods that feed your skin. Concentrate on a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies rich in antioxidants, whole grains, fiber-rich foods, omega-3 fatty acids (like those in sardines, eggs, walnuts) and lean protein. Reduce your intake of sugar which can lead to oxidative damage to your skin.
While you’re at it, add lots of hydration - both from the inside and out. A good rule of thumb is eight 8-ounce glasses of H20 per day. And invest in a deeply hydrating day and nighttime topical moisturizer.
4. Professional Facials
Monthly professional facials go a long way in keeping skin plump, elastic and moist, and can be customize to your specific needs.
Get enough sleep – it’s called “beauty sleep” for a reason. While you are sleeping, your body repairs itself (skin makes new collagen, for example). Aim for seven to nine hours each night.
