Remember when you were told you needed to drink eight glasses of water a day to keep your body hydrated and healthy?

Well, what you may not have heard, are the benefits of water for your skin. Skin is an organ, and just like your internal organs, it needs to stay properly hydrated to function correctly. Without proper hydration, skin turns dry, flaky and loses elasticity, and toxins are not flushed from skin. All of this can leave your skin looking dull, with more visible wrinkles and loss of elasticity.

There are many factors that contribute to how your skin ages - genetics, eating habits, smoking, exposure to sun and pollution; but hydration plays a critical role. While water alone isn't a magical fix, it is one healthy step that everyone (no matter your age!) can do to have skin that appears more healthy, firmer and glowing.

If you are not excited about drinking plain water, consider adding fresh lemon. Not only will it add flavor, lemon is also a great source of vitamin C; an anti-oxidant known for its ability to improve the appearance of lines, wrinkles, skin texture and tone.
